Thanks to the Boxmode domain mapping feature, users can connect domain names purchased from third-party providers (registrars) to their Boxmode websites. 

Important:

You can use this feature only with a subscription to paid plans (Lite and Growth).

Connecting a domain

To connect a domain name to your site, please follow the steps below.

  1. Go to Projects in your dashboard.
  2. Select a particular project and press the ellipsis icon next to the project’s name. Click the Manage Domains tab in the context menu. You can also open Manage Domains in the Project Settings tab (Project Settings — Manage Domains).
  3. Click the Add Domain tab. You will see the list of unique DNS settings for your domain name.

4) Log in to your account on your domain provider’s website and set the DNS parameters as specified in the list.

Note:

It may take up to 72 hours for the new DNS settings to take effect. However, you can connect a custom domain to your Boxmode website instantly, and then monitor its status in the Connected Domains tab.

5) Enter your domain name in the corresponding field and click Verify. The initial verification result of your DNS settings will be displayed promptly below the field.

6) Click Connect. You can view the final status of the verification process in the Connected Domains tab. If the verification is successful, you can set this domain name as primary using its contextual menu.

Important:

To prove the domain ownership and make your website visible on the web, you should verify it in Google Search Console. Check the details on how to do this in our Help Center article.

Connecting a subdomain

If your primary domain (for instance, example.com) is used for another website, and you want to connect your Boxmode project to its subdomain (subdomain.example.com), please see the following instructions.

  1. Go to Project Settings in your dashboard.
  2. Click Manage Domains in the sidebar and open the Add Domain tab. You will see the list of unique DNS settings for your domain name.
  3. Log in to your account on your domain provider’s website and set only the CNAME parameter as specified in the list.

It may take up to 72 hours for the new DNS settings to take effect. However, you can connect a custom subdomain to your Boxmode website instantly, and then monitor its status in the Connected Domains tab.

4) Enter your subdomain name in the corresponding field and click Verify. The initial verification result of your DNS settings will be displayed promptly below the field.

5) Click Connect. You can then start monitoring the final status of the verification process in the Connected Domains tab. If the verification is successful, you can set this domain name as primary using its contextual menu.

FAQ

What is a primary domain?

You can connect an unlimited number of domain names to your Boxmode project. But when users navigate through any of the successfully connected domains, they will always be redirected to the primary domain.

Do you provide domains with SSL certificates?

Yes, Boxmode automatically generates and installs an SSL certificate on the website’s domain name for free. 
Custom domains from third-party providers and those purchased directly from Boxmode get Let’s Encrypt SSL certificates. In addition, free *.boxmode.io domain names are protected with Wildcard SSL Certificates.
An SSL certificate establishes a secure connection between the client’s browser and the site, preventing the users’ personal data interception. Personal data includes logins and passwords from accounts, bank card information, email addresses, etc.

Note:

Generating and installing an SSL certificate may take some time, from 10 minutes and up to 72 hours. In addition, you can’t set this domain as primary until the certificate for a newly added domain is created.
